Eating Disorder Resources
Caring for someone with an eating disorder is a complex task and requires parents and carers to develop skills and knowledge they may not have previously had. Families need access to high quality eating disorder resources, information and advice.
We have put together a list of useful resources for families and carers of those with eating disorders.
A key outcome of the Northern Territory Carers Summit for Eating Disorders was a shared commitment to strengthening eating disorder care and ensuring the voices of carers are heard. In response to feedback from attendees, Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) committed to developing a practical advocacy letter template for carers.
This resource is designed to help carers share their experiences, highlight the challenges they face, and advocate for improved support and services for individuals and families affected by eating disorders across the Territory.
We encourage you to adapt the letter with your own story and send it at a time that suits you. Every voice matters, and collective advocacy can help drive meaningful change.
EDFA has also created a template to advocate for the Hospital Liaison Officer Program that you can use.
Download the HLO advocacy template email.
The funding for the HLO program has ended, but the need hasn’t. We need your help to advocate for funding.
InsideOut’s Treatment Services Database can assist you in finding a private practitioner, community clinic or program, day program, in hospital treatment, support group or clinical supervisor near you.
Connect-ed connects people facing an eating disorder with credentialed treatment providers and is governed by the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.
