A Story of Recovery – Amanda Goodfellow 20 October 2022

After a 10 year battle with an eating disorder in her 20’s and ongoing depression well into her 40’s, Amanda Goodfellow was no stranger to the therapist’s couch. But after years of talk therapy and even 15 years of meditation practice, the internal dialogue of ‘never good enough’ and the constant drive for approval and perfection was relentless.

Amanda shares her story of recovery including why mindfulness and talk therapy was not enough for her and how somatic mindfulness helped her and the clients she works with find freedom from an eating disorder.

Amanda is a TEDx Speaker, meditation and mindfulness teacher and the founder of Agile Mind. She works with corporate organisations and individuals to share the benefits of mindfulness and meditation to support mental health and wellbeing. Amanda has lived experience of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa and is passionate about supporting people with eating disorders, including complex trauma in ED, and their families navigating this space, through Somatic Mindfulness.

In addition to formal qualifications in meditation teaching, Amanda is the first in South Australia to become an accredited Kiloby Inquiries (KI) facilitator, a mindfulness based therapy that helps people find freedom from their self belief of being deficient – an approach she credits to ending her own 30 year battle with mental illness.

Amanda answers audience questions throughout this insightful and valuable presentation.
